Summary: In Hanabusa family, the selection of the head of the family head involves the appearance of a distinct flower mark on the ‘selected’ person’s body. Apparently, the flower mark will appear on the selected bride, too. The marks will develop/bloom as the more both of the flower bearers get close to each other.
You’ve been working as a maid for the family, but on one very rare day, you’ve got 4 different flower marks appearing on your body. These flower marks correspond to 4 different guys in the family, and it’s decided that whoever manages to fully bloom the flower marks first will become the new family head. You get to spend time with each candidate; the CD actually starts on the final month of your ‘getting close’ process.
T/N: There are 4 volumes for this series (for each candidate), and this is the 3rd volume, about the candidate who’s also your classmate. He is not from the main Hanabusa family, but from the branch family, so he’s not an immediate family member of the other Hanabusa guys. I really like the whole plot/concept, I wish there was more lmao. He’s such a sweetheart! I feel that the cover doesn’t do him justice lol. And he’s got a bit of an accent ahahahah >////< Full translation under the cut, with comments at the end of the post. Disclaimer: Lots and lots of liberties are taken in this volume. So, probably not 100% correct.
1.同級生の花嫁候補 (The classmate’s prospective bride)
The track starts with the noise of the night. You’re walking to the place you’re supposed to spend the month at…. When you knock, he asks you to just enter and there’s no need to be so civil. He’s just from the branch family anyway. Whether he’s the family head or not, or even about this whole family head selection thing, he doesn’t really mind. If anything, he finds it a bother. He complains about it a for while, muttering to himself about his annoyance.
He expresses his sorry for the trouble you’re going through in this whole process, including that you have to stay in this house (which is a place reserved for you guys to live together in). He then says that rambling about it won’t change things anyway..

“This place is huge but it’s ridiculously empty… There’s not even a TV here. Are you fine with that?”
“That’s fine then… By the way, don’t use formal language… This is not the Hanabusa mansion. Just treat me the same like the way we are in class, that’s more comfortable.”
He starts to tell you where the toilet and bathroom are, but in midst of it he says there’s no need since you can see it for yourself.
“For the futon, I’ve already set it up there, but can move it to where you like. I tried to prepare most of the things for you, that’s the least I could do. What else… Is there anything else that you need?”
“I told you, just treat me like a family! You don’t need to be so formal.”
It seems like you’re apologizing for the trouble, so he says it’s no problem and that you’re asked to live here, isn’t it? It isn’t like you wanted this, so it’s okay. He assures that he will take care of the meals (go to the main building and get the food).

“Also, I want you to please don’t be away from me. I said this earlier.. When my colleagues knew that I was chosen to be a family head candidate, they were really jealous. They completely ignored my opinions, even as a son they completely turned deaf ears on me. I don’t know what they’d do to you. I’ll try my best to not cause any inconvenience for you, so please.”
“I said that I’ll look after you, you’re basically like a royalty now, you know. It might be a little uneasy for you, but you can spend your time here however you like. Treat it as a vacation of some sorts, you haven’t had an off day, have you?”
Now that it’s settled, he’s going to return to whatever he was working on. He says he will bring breakfast tomorrow, but then muses that it’s bad if he enters suddenly. He will text you before to ask whether it’s convenient to come in, so tell him if it’s okay to enter.
You ask him whether you want to see the mark, which is the same as the one he has on his hand. He says it’s fine if he doesn’t see it… He mutters if he turns out to not become the head of the family, it’ll be a troublesome for you, right?…. You ask him what he’s saying to himself but he says nah it’s nothing.
He says you can see the shadow so you’ll know if anyone’s coming in, then he greets you good night and exits.

“Ah! I’m sorry! I forgot it’s still dark…. You finished your bath? Thank goodness you’re not in the middle of it.”
“By the way, the lock.. why didn’t you lock it? I feel bad for suddenly coming in like this.”
“It’s not that I want you to apologize… Instead.. I should apologize!! Sorry you have to live with me in this house… My family would be able to keep a lookout if we lived in the main building. They’re really angry that I couldn’t bring my hanayome home.” (?)
“Well, I’m fine with them being angry, but if I refuse…. You know, you being the hanayome bride and all… it could become a mess…. Being together day and night, normally I couldn’t even think about it. So when I heard that I’d be living with you, I didn’t want to hear it anymore (?)… All of this despite me asking you to feel at home… I’m really sorry!”
“Even if I try hard, you won’t truly be comfortable, right?….. Throwing people at the marriageable age in the same house…what are they thinking?… As I thought, I’m going to lodge a complaint one more time.”
“But!! 24/7 is just..!!”
“You’re also sleeping here at night, right?… That’s risky…”
“Why are you laughing with that face…?”
“Outside…? OUTSIDE?? This house is here for us to stay in, why did you even think of sleeping outside?”
Apparently you suggest that you sleep outside, and he strongly rejects the idea. He says if you want to sleep outside, then he will sleep outside instead. You insist on sleeping outside though, so he goes on a lecture. You laugh in the midst of his complaint and he asks you to not laugh, but resigns to you (and agrees to sleep in the room too). He laughs too and comments on how stubborn you are.
He gets the futon (and comments on how convenient that there are exactly 2 sets of futon). You sleep there, and he’s going to sleep inside the closet.

“This room doesn’t have any separating partition, it can’t be helped right? It’s fine, I can get in if I bend my feet a bit.”
“That’s because you’re short. This closet is too small to fit in anyone else.”
“W-why are you getting in?”
“Hey… I’m happy you are inside the bed, but not this one… It’s decided that this one is my futon, yours is over there… Go out…”
“Ouch…it’s cold… I-I’m sorry! I’ll get off now!”
He falls down on top of you, but he got nervous and stands up too quickly so he bangs into something. You laugh at him, & he mutters that you really do like to laugh….
Since you want to sleep inside the closet too, he offers you an option whether you want to sleep at the top bunk or the lower one, but it’s not his fault if it’s not comfortable there okay?
Before going to sleep, he asks whether it’s okay to turn off the lights, mumbling that this room doesn’t have a small lamp. Then he turns the lights off and says good night.

“You asleep already?… Sorry you have to go through all of this.”
“This family head ritual thing… I never thought that I could be one or that there’s such a thing. Even if there was, I thought it was none of my business.”
“Even if I’m the eldest son, I’m just from the branch family. Plus, you’re always with Hanabusa Mizuho, right?” (*the guy from vol.1)
“I know that. I know he’s a relative… But whenever I see you, you’re always together with him.”
“Even if I don’t like it, it always come to view.”(?)
He’s talking about Hanabusa Mizuho, whom you serve mostly. You’re kind of like a personal maid to Mizuho, following him around and such. Thus he’s saying like he needs to apologize to Mizuho because you’re spending 1 month with him (taking away his personal maid).
He muses that usually there’s only 1 hanayome, right? This time 1 hanayome is tied to 4 guys… And everything is up to the hanayome bride…
He gets a bit pessimistic as he accidentally blurts out it would be a problem if he really falls in love with you..
He realizes what he says and nervously tries to explain that he doesn’t mean it that way and tries to divert the topic to today’s homework. He then apologizes, saying that it doesn’t matter either way, right? He discloses he never expected all this would happen; it’s hard to believe this is a reality, being a candidate for the family head or sleeping together like this. But it is indeed reality; him being a family head candidate & you being the chosen hanayome bride…
Being the chosen hanayome must’ve been hard on you, right?…You have to stay together with all the candidates, one guy at a time… It’s terrible. He blames the ancestors for coming up with such kind of thing/ritual… He angrily hopes this ‘curse’ will stop… It’s not like we chose to be born in this house..
He apologizes to you for having to go through this… And apologizes again for disrupting your sleep.
2.日常だったはずの世界 (Ordinary world as usual)
“Sorry for making you wait…. Why? A text? You’re scrunching up your eyebrows so much, what is it? Is it a big problem?”
It seems like it’s a text from Mizuho… Mizuho gets a maid replacement since you’re spending the month with him. He mumbles a bit about this, saying like ‘can’t he live for a month without his maid?’ He whines a bit saying that Mizuho should have tea on his own and leave you alone for a while. Since you’re on a date with him, you decide to follow him..

You’re at the arcade; he asks you why do you keep looking around, could this be your first time. You say it’s not, you go out sometimes too. He mumbles about you being always on Mizuho’s side again (which makes you unable to enjoy life), he invites you to play a crane game* and he gets a doll for you. He teaches you how to play it, but in the midst of it you get the dizziness from the hanayome effect.
*T/N: The doll-grabbing machine game, in which you move the crane to grab a doll…aka one of the most frustrating game ever.
He gets really worried and asks you whether he should call an ambulance, but you say there’s a medicine in your bag. He stumbles to find it; the medicine isn’t a normal medicine, but he feeds it to you anyway. The dizziness soon goes away and he apologizes for overreacting. He asks for your hand and slowly leads you outside because it’s noisy here.

He gets you seated somewhere and goes to buy you a drink. When he returns, he bought you some tea, and asks you whether you’ve got some kind of illness. You tell him that it’s the hanayome effect. He calls it a curse again and asks you why didn’t you tell him such an important thing. Boy gets angry, why the hell is this happening to you…
You assure him it’s fine; he says don’t pretend to be strong… He apologizes for not knowing this… You’re still trembling, he asks again why are you keeping this suffering to yourself. Is there anything he can do? As long as it will ease your burden, no matter what, he would do it. He will think seriously about this family head candidate thing, so please rely on him more!
He apologizes for getting heated up, also for grabbing your hands earlier.

3.目覚めた本能 (Awakened instincts)
You’re in the school clinic. He knocks and comes in, and apparently the nurse is out. He asks about your condition & he has brought your bag. He asks whether it’s the hanayome effect again?… You probably have a fever because he’s commenting that your face is red… He gets worried about you passing out and complains where the heck is the nurse?! He says he’ll go get the nurse and asks you to rest for a little more, but your dizziness comes again and you grab him. He assures you he will be back very soon, but you pull him and pin him down.

“O-Oi!! Where are you touching! What– Wait!! Calm down! Stop it!”

He talks a bit about being a hanayome candidate and not being received as such (?), and then says that he heard that if you got the dizziness, either you take the medicine, or you have to get close to the candidate to reduce/make the pain disappear. If you don’t, the pain will get stronger (?). Thus, now he understands why you did what you did today and also your quick escape; saying that’s all his fault… He asks you whether you’re shocked and apologizes, bowing down again..
You respond and he protests, saying that you have to tell him everything. He apologizes again for causing such suffering on you. He’s about to say something, but you get the dizziness again. He gives you the medicine and the pain goes away. He expresses his relief that the pain goes away (so that you don’t have to do such things to him like before), but he quickly explains that it wasn’t what he meant while muttering ‘why am I so dumb…’
He’s sitting formally (that traditional Japanese position with feet folded), you comment on it and he says he has to do so because he has something important to say from now on.

T/N: OKAY!!!!!!! 100 TIMES OKAY BABE!!!!!!!! lmao GUHHH I’m so sorry for this one there are lots and lots of things that I couldn’t understand due to his way of speech so I had to take a lot of liberties here and there. I hope someone more knowledgeable will furnish this so I could convey the story correctly. This series’ plot is one of my favorite tbh. My crap translation isn’t doing it justice. I love how the story connects to the other volumes and how it mentions the other guys/candidates without being annoying. lmao BUT POOR GUY GOT WALKED OUT ON AFTER GETTING A BJ. I love how humble he is WHILE keeping that pouty character going on. He’s just so cute.
